Cam Zink Sets World Record Dirt-to-Dirt MTB Backflip!

Aug 21, 2014

Cam Zink, a Mammoth Mountain athlete and professional mountain bike rider, achieved history today by successfully landing a 100-foot, 3 inch backflip LIVE on ESPN, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest dirt-to-dirt MTB backflip.

Some 2,000 people turned out to witness the historic feat at Canyon Lodge. After weeks of preparation, Zink took his cue and rolled into the 900 foot long, 14-degree slope to execute the record-setting feat before a joyous crowd.

“It’s like a dream. I popped off and I was like ‘Holy Moly’ I forgot how long I’m in the air! I still felt comfortable but I’m just looking at the sky forever! But then came around it’s was the smoothes landing I’ve had… that’s what these last six months have been about."

Speaking on what's next Cam continued:

"It’s just the beginning. It’s the end of this first goal, but it’s years and years of coming to fruition… I can’t thank everyone enough… I think it’s just a beginning, maybe 150, 200, who knows!"

We couldn’t be more proud of Cam’s achievement as a representative of mountain biking and Mammoth Mountain. Congratulations Cam!

See you on the hill!
